The Holiday- Day 3

Day 3
Started when the mini van picked us up from the resort. We drove around to the other resorts to pick up passengers, luckily for us there was a few no shows so we managed to have plenty of room in the van with only 3 couples. First stop of the tour was the shark, fish and turtle feeding. For 850 Vatu each we were given a bag of bread, fish heads and mangos. We fed the bread to the fish, the mangos to the turtles and the fish heads to the sharks. The sharks were sluggish as I think they get way too much food. While the feeding occurred it started to piss rain so we got soaked but thankfully the camera didn't die.

The next stop was a private beach - we paid 100 Vatu each and enjoyed the cool water. We sat in a little hut and ate the apples from the coconuts. Basically when you leave a coconut on a tree for an extended period the milk inside dries up and forms and apple which is spongy and very tasty. One of the tour guides climbed a tree and managed to get coconuts down for us to take home.

Before lunch we took a slight detour into the forest. The tour guide wanted to show us a special site but as the land was currently in dispute by land owners the other tour guide had to keep look out in a tree while we checked out the hot springs. It was amazing to see boiling water trickling from the ground. The amount of crabs that had unfortunately fallen in and were boiled alive was a site!

Next stop was lunch in the village of Emua. We paid the chief 1000 Vatu each and had a nice lunch of steak and salad. The kids had a little shop selling bags and necklaces- I got 2 necklaces which were later seized by customs as they contained seeds. We then walked around the village with the chief which took about 1 hour.

Next stop on the journey was another private beach. We handed over our 100 Vatu and were met by little kids with sea shells. I managed to receive about 1 kilo of shells which I tried to discreetly return to the sand. I took some pics of the kids which I showed them in the preview screen. As they had never seen a picture of themselves they were rather excited.

By now it was getting dark and 6 hours had passed since we set off. The tour guide just happened to have been employed by "Survivor" and was in charge of driving all the competitors around. When Survivor finished he was able to take props from the show. So our next stop was a spot by the side of the road where the driver had disposed of some of his souvenirs. 1 red stick and 1 yellow stick- this meant nothing to me but the others found it exciting.

This concluded the tour attractions. An hour later we arrived back at the hotel and we managed to get ourselves ready for a night on the town. We took a bus into the town and dined at a nice italian restaurant (Sea View) which overlooked the harbour. After 1 cocktail me and 1 beer the boy we were ready for sleep!
